Gstaad Classic Rally
The Car That Raced Against the Ferrari
During the late 1950s, Ferrari was the car manufacturer to beat when it came to the racing circuit. This is why the ....
Aston Martin house created a car that was meant to race against the powerhouse of Ferrari.
The 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT has a six cylinder, 3.7 liter engine that can run at a top speed of around 150 miles per hour. One of its major achievements: it was the first classic car that managed to run from zero to 100 miles per hour in less than 20 seconds. This made the car quite popular. There were around 90, 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GTs created, although there were also around 20 DB4 GT Zagato models made during the 1960 and 75 Touring DB4 GTs.
So how did it fare against the Ferraris? Not quite well, although it wasnt a complete failure. It didnt finish the 1961 12 Hours of Sebring, for instance, but its overall performance was not bad at all.
Today, a 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT is worth millions (one DB4 GT was sold at more than two million US dollars). This proves that the 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT won a different race against the classic car models of its time.
