The 1956 Triumph TR3
Looking Back At the Historic 1956 Triumph TR3
In a long line of successful sports cars from Triumph, the TR3 represents the family ....
The Triumph TR3 was the successor to the TR2. It was produced from 1955 until 1959, and it remains one of the darlings of British automotive history. It was a two-seater sports car that was admired for its style and it also had some options and additions that were not included on the previous model that proved to be well received by the public.
The car was powered by a four cylinder, 2 litre engine that could produce up to 100 horsepower. It was not the most powerful car in its class at the time, but it had enough to be able to get it up to over 100 miles per hour. Despite the fact that it was a very small car, it was a little bit heavier than some of its competitors from Italy.
The car was not specifically designed for racing like some cars of that time, and definitely was known to have a little bit more style. Even so, it handled well with double wishbone suspension up front and a live axles set up in the back.
