The Power of the Dino
From its name, you might think that the Ferrari 246 GT Dino is named after a dinosaur. However, the name is actually ....
The Ferrari 246 GT Dino is actually the first mid-engine sports car ever. During the 1960s, the winning race cars had their engines at the back rather than the front. The mid-engine design was actually considered as dangerous. Many experts in the industry thought that the speed of sports cars does not bode well for mid-engine cars.
Because of this, the main men at Ferrari, after developing a design for a mid-engine, decided to release the car, but without the Ferrari brand and insignia. The price of the Ferrari 246 GT Dino is also much lower than the usually expensive, Ferraris, proof that the company thought they were risking it with this now classic car.
But the Ferrari 246 GT Dino became a success, and the mid-engine design didnt really pose any trouble at all. The price of the car also made it an accessible favorite. This Dino is perhaps just as powerful as its prehistoric predecessors because of this.
