1971 Porsche 917/20
Is there such a thing as an ugly Porsche? For many enthusiasts, even implying ....
The Porsche 917/20 Coupe is a combination of the short tail and the long tail Porsche 917, an acclaimed Porsche model (due to the highly successful Porsche 917LH). However, the Porsche 917/20 Coupe had a few problems that prevented it from following the footsteps of the successful 917 LH.
First is the design. The design of the Porsche 917/20 Coupe is somewhat boxy and bulky, with many people saying that the classic car looked like a pig. Porsche admitted that the design by French car design firm SERA wasn’t exactly flattering, so they rolled with the punches and painted the car in pink, with names of pig parts printed all over the body of the car.
The power of the Porsche 917/20 Coupe isn’t too shabby, but the control and the stability of the model weren’t too spectacular making it a sudden one-way design.
Still, the Porsche 917/20 Coupe as exhibited in the Porsche Museum remains iconic due to these reasons.
